Chanel To Sell Runway Inspired Temporary Tattoos

"Tattoo-inspired body art was shown by fashion houses as different as Rodarte and Jean Paul Gautier on their Spring 2010 runways.

But it was Chanel's wonderfully whimsical versions that got us talking, and there have been rumblings that maybe, just maybe, the fashion house would bring them to retail ever since.

And we just got official word that they are.

Called Les Trompe L'Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art, these limited edition designs are based on the temporary tattoos that global creative director Peter Philips designed for the Paris runway show. Each pack contains five sheets (with 55 total designs included in each) and starting in mid-February they will be sold for $75.00 at Chanel.com.

We haven't gotten our hands on the actual tattoos yet, but based on the ones we saw on the runway and in Chanel's spring imagery they look truly gorgeous."

Not All Michelin Star Restaurants Are Alike . . . . .

A Michelin Star Shines in Mongkok

"It seems an incongruous place to find a rating most chefs would strangle their sous-chefs for. But the gamy Hong Kong district of Mongkok hosts the cheapest starred restaurant in the famed culinary kingdom of the Michelin Guide. It is Tim Ho Wan, a Cantonese eatery that for instance features for just HK$12 (US$1.53) three light, crispy barbeque pork buns filled with a gentle stew of meat chunks swaddled in slightly sweet sauce. These baked buns are largely responsible for not only keeping this restaurant forever busy, but earned it a star that would be the envy of the tens of thousands of chefs in France.

We waited an hour and 10 minutes to get in; by the time the outsiders gain entry to the promised land, they will have waited considerably longer.

Tim Ho Wan is no longer a secret. Those queues outside the door are as much a feature as those glorious pork buns, and neither will be going away any time soon."

Ex-Prostitute Loses Claim Against School

"THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- A Dutch court on Wednesday rejected a compensation claim by a woman who sued her former high school for allegedly failing to stop her from becoming a prostitute.

Maria Mosterd claimed her school should have done more to prevent pimps preying on her and told her mother about her repeated truancy.

The 20-year-old wrote a book about her experiences, claiming pimps took her from school in the eastern city of Zwolle and put her to work as a prostitute.

Zwolle District Court rejected Mosterd's compensation claim, saying the school tried unsuccessfully to contact her mother and called in a truancy officer.

The court ruling also said that parents, not schools, are primarily responsible for their children's well-being.

Mosterd's former school, the Thorbecke School, could not immediately be reached for comment. The school's Web site says it pays special attention to the danger of pimps and discusses the issue with students."

British woman 'arrested in Dubai after being raped'

A 23-year-old British woman on holiday in Dubai told police she had been raped, only to be arrested herself for having illegal sexual intercourse.

"The woman, a Muslim of Pakistani descent, was celebrating her engagement to her 44-year-old boyfriend, and was allegedly attacked when she passed out in a hotel lavatory.

Despite approaching police about the attack, she was arrested after admitting to "illegal drinking" outside licensed premises as well as having sexual intercourse outside marriage. Her fiancé was also charged with the same offences.

The woman, who is said to have accepted her boyfriend's marriage proposal during a three-day break, admitted drinking too much alcohol as they celebrated at Dubai Marina's Address Hotel. The waiter, believed to be Syrian, is then said to have followed her into the toilets and raped her while she was in a state of semi-consciousness.

After her fiancé found out about the attack, they contacted police, but they were questioned about breaking the country's strict rules, which contain elements of Sharia law."

Now That's Driving Like You Stole It . . . . .

Swiss Ferrari driver hit with record $290,000 speeding fine

"Switzerland doesn't mess around when it comes to speeding tickets. Get caught with a lead foot in the land of Alpine vistas and serious chocolate and the cost of your transgression won't be based on a flat rate for the infraction, it will be based on how wealthy you are. An unnamed driver of a Ferrari Testarossa found this out the hard way when he was caught driving 85 miles per hour through the village of St. Gallen. According to the BBC News, the driver was a repeat offender and his crime was going 35 mph over the speeding limit.

The punishment? How about £180,000 ($290,000 in U.S. funds), or enough money to purchase two or three Testarossas on eBay. That ungodly sum is reported to be more than double the previously costliest ticket, though we're pretty sure the new record holder probably isn't celebrating. Don't feel too bad for the unnamed offender, though, as he is reportedly worth $22.7 million and he owns a villa and five luxury cars."
